Research Use Only

Every serious peptide supplier clearly communicates the Research Use Only (RUO) designation to ensure responsible handling and compliance within the scientific community. North Specs Labs applies that designation to every product we sell, without exception.

1. Scope of this policy

This Research Use Only Policy governs all products, materials, reference standards and documentation supplied by North Specs Labs ("North Specs Labs", "we", "us", "our") through northspecs.ca and any associated ordering channel. It applies to every purchaser, account holder, institution and visitor ("you"). It forms part of, and is incorporated by reference into, our Terms of Use.

2. The designation

All products offered by North Specs Labs are intended strictly for laboratory research purposes. These materials are not for human consumption and are not intended for diagnostic, therapeutic, or medical use.

Our products are:

  • not drugs, medicines or investigational medicinal products;
  • not foods, beverages, dietary supplements or natural health products;
  • not cosmetics or personal care products;
  • not medical devices or in-vitro diagnostic devices;
  • not veterinary products of any kind.

No product supplied by North Specs Labs has been evaluated or approved by Health Canada, the United States Food and Drug Administration, the European Medicines Agency or any other regulatory authority for use in humans or animals. Nothing on this website constitutes medical advice, a treatment protocol, a dosing recommendation, or a claim that any product diagnoses, treats, cures, mitigates or prevents any disease or condition.

3. Purchaser attestation

By purchasing from our website, customers confirm that they are qualified researchers, laboratories, or research institutions and fully understand the research-use-only designation associated with these products.

Specifically, by placing an order you represent, warrant and attest that:

  1. You are at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction and have legal capacity to contract.
  2. You are a qualified researcher, or an authorised representative of a laboratory, university, hospital research unit, contract research organisation or comparable research institution.
  3. You possess the scientific training, technical competence and facilities required to handle research chemicals safely.
  4. You will use the products solely for legitimate in-vitro laboratory research, and for no other purpose.
  5. You will not administer, ingest, inject, apply or otherwise introduce any product into the body of a human or an animal, and will not permit or facilitate any other person doing so.
  6. You will not resell, distribute, repackage, relabel, compound or otherwise transfer any product for human or veterinary use, or to any person you believe intends such use.
  7. You will comply with all applicable laws, regulations, institutional policies and good laboratory practice governing the acquisition, storage, handling, use, transport and disposal of the products.
  8. The information you provide during registration and checkout, including your institutional affiliation and intended research application, is accurate and complete.

This attestation is a material condition of sale. We rely on it in deciding whether to accept your order.

4. Order review and refusal

North Specs Labs reviews orders before dispatch to confirm research use. We may, at our sole discretion and without obligation to give reasons:

  • request additional information about you, your institution or your intended research application;
  • require verification of institutional affiliation, purchase-order authority or laboratory address;
  • limit order quantities or the frequency of ordering;
  • decline, cancel, suspend or refund any order in whole or in part;
  • close an account and refuse future orders.

We will refuse or cancel an order where we have reasonable grounds to believe the products may be intended for human or veterinary use, for resale to consumers, or for any unlawful purpose. A refusal under this section is not a breach of contract by us, and your sole remedy is a refund of amounts paid for the refused items.

5. Handling, storage and disposal

You are solely responsible for the safe handling of all products from the moment they are delivered. This includes:

  • performing your own risk assessment before use;
  • maintaining appropriate containment, ventilation and personal protective equipment;
  • observing the storage conditions stated on the product page and certificate of analysis;
  • keeping products secured and clearly labelled as research materials, out of reach of any person not qualified to handle them;
  • disposing of unused product, reconstituted solutions and packaging in accordance with applicable waste regulations and your institution's procedures.

Reference material we publish, including reconstitution guidance and the reconstitution calculator, is provided as a laboratory convenience only. It is not a protocol, not a dosing instruction, and not a substitute for your own validated procedures and independent verification.

6. No medical or professional relationship

Providing products or information to you does not create any physician-patient, pharmacist-patient, or other professional healthcare relationship. Our scientific support team can answer questions about specifications, batch documentation, purity, solubility and handling. They cannot and will not advise on administration, dosing for living subjects, therapeutic application or any clinical question, and any such request will be declined.

7. Third-party content

Product literature, published research and external references cited on this website are provided for scientific context. Citation of a study does not imply that the study was conducted with our material, that its results are reproducible with our material, or that any outcome described in it can be expected. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content of any third-party publication or website.

8. Consequences of breach

Breach of this policy is a material breach of the Terms of Use. It may result in immediate cancellation of pending orders, closure of your account, forfeiture of any right to refund, and referral to the relevant regulatory or law-enforcement authority. You agree to indemnify North Specs Labs in accordance with the indemnity provisions of the Terms of Use in respect of any breach of this policy by you.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time you place an order. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date below. Continued use of the website or placement of a further order after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
